Uranium glass is glass that contains a minute, harmless amount of uranium as a coloring agent. When exposed to ultraviolet light (blacklight) in the dark, it glows beautifully.
It was invented in the 1830s in the Northern Bohemia region (present-day Czech Republic). About 100 years ago, many everyday items and crafts made with uranium glass were produced, primarily in Europe.
Uranium glass is also known as "vaseline glass" and is still loved by many collectors today.
